Intergenerational LearningCommunication between generations – think, act, volunteer together!
Hovewer, it has been a fact for years that European societies are ageing, the communication of the phenomenon is rather controversial.
Project duration: 2 years (1 August 2012 – 31 July 2014)

Even if there are initiations on European level to increase solidarity between generations, the communication on national level still focuses on the negative economic side effects which became more crusial due to the recent years' economic crisis. This communication put pressure on younger and older generations and generate a social tension.
Unfortunately, negative attitudes towards older people and ageing in general are widespread and the communication gap between generations has always been a key issue. The rapidly changing environment (including technical devices) creates new challanges and most of the older people cannot keep up with these changes. This fact makes the communication gap wider and increase the distance between the generations.
As a result of the above described processes younger people cannot value the older generation's knowledge whilst older people have to face the feeling of being usefullness and defencelessness in our society.
Our partnership believes that this issue requests a more complex view. This project reflects to the above described issues and aims to give an adequete answer by using the tools of adult education.
Developing some of the key competences within the framework of an intergenerational project can be one of the answers. The partnership intends to develop several competences (among others communication / civic and social / digital competences) of the participants thus contributing to a more peaceful and cooperative society.
Six partners from 5 countries work together for realising the project „Communication between generations – think, act, volunteer together!".
The project focuses on improving the communication between generations
All partners have special innovative methods with which the communication can be improved but these have not been tested in intergenerational contexts so far.
Each partner initiates an intergenerational pilot project on local level applying their innovative methods. These projects will be run mainly by the learners thus participants' active involvement will be ensured during the project.
The methods and the results of the local pilot projects will be shared on international level. The results of the local and international work will be summarised in a toolkit which will contain the theory as well as the parcice and the lessons learnt throughout the project.
Partners design common communication channels (Facebook profile, sub-websites) which will ensure the national and international publicity and contribute to the efficient dissemination of the results.
