"community projects for social innovation through intergenerational volunteering experience"
Webpage: http://www.comeon-project.eu/.
The ComeON! project proposal has been developed within the framework of Grundtvig Multilateral Projects, according to the following priorities:
-
Acquisition of key competences through adult education.
-
Creativity and innovation, including intergenerational learning, learning for senior citizens and family learning.
ComeON! will focus on equipping senior citizens with the skills that they need in order to cope with change and remain active in society, and developing innovative approaches to inter-generational learning and strengthening the contribution of older people to the learning of others, including young adults.
The project will test an innovative intergenerational learning model integrating youth and elderly voluntarism to promote active citizenship and support effectively the development of transversal key competences such as learning to learn, problem-solving and entrepreneurship, digital, social, civic and cultural competences and media literacy, through a learning experience that goes beyond subject boundaries to take a holistic view of personal, social and territorial development. For elders in particular, intergenerational volunteering provides a learning opportunity to improve their self-esteem and relations, while reducing the risk of social isolation. By participating in ComeON! they will reinforce and develop transversal key competences, tackling simultaneously the challenges of active ageing, 21st century life skills and responsible citizenship by implementing community projects along with the younger generations.
The project addresses the following Lifelong Learning Programme specific and operational objectives:
-
Reinforce the contribution of lifelong learning to social cohesion, active citizenship, intercultural dialogue, gender equality and personal fulfillment.
-
Respond to the educational challenge of an ageing population in Europe.
-
Help provide adults with pathways to improving their knowledge and competences.
-
Support the development of innovative ICT-based content, services, pedagogies and practice for lifelong learning.
